A training course for all personnel who may be required to use fire extinguishers in an emergency.

Course topics

  • The nature of fire and the fire triangle
  • The importance of good practice in fire prevention
  • The correct identification, selection and uses of the various type of extinguishers
  • How to use a fire extinguisher to put out or control fires
  • The associated risks of fire, including the release of dangerous gases and particles
  • Classroom session with PowerPoint presentation and video
  • Practical session in outside area using extinguishers

Course fees

  • Travel costs charged at 0.32p per mile
  • Plus costs of refilling extinguishers as necessary
 

This course is designed for drivers to give them basic skills to know what to do after an accident (first aid, road safety and legal requirements).

  • What to do in an incident or accident in order to ensure personal safety and that of the public
  • Informing and cooperating with the emergency services
  • Minimising the consequences of the accident/incident
  • Warning and protecting the public
  • Ensuring personal safety
  • Attending to the injured
  • The administration of basic emergency first aid techniques, including performing CPR and controlling bleeding
  • Assessement of the unconscious casualty
  • Placing the casualty in the recovery position
