Plant equipment operators
Norfolk Training Services assists plant equipment operators to gain or renew their Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) red or blue card.
The CPCS scheme requires an operator to be trained and experienced, so a competence card cannot be obtained straight away – that’s why the scheme has two levels of card: red and blue.
The red card is the first level competence card which allows trained operators to work on-site in order to gain the experience required to then complete the Specialised Plant Machinery Operations (SPMO) NVQ and qualify for a blue card.
There are a number of other qualifying criteria included in the process, such as recording the number of hours spent operating each category (type of plant) in a log-book, the Construction Skills Health and Safety Test, and a test for the type of plant equipment operated, which includes a test of knowledge and practical ability.
A blue card is valid five years.
