Norfolk Training Services runs forklift truck courses which conform to the Health and Safety Commission Rider
Operated Lift Trucks: OperatorTraining Approved Code of Practice (revised 1999).
Our training centre and courses are approved and certificated by the Independent Training Scheme
Standards and Register (ITSSAR), and weonly provide training which meets the Health and Safety Code of Practice.
All our instructors are fully qualified to provide training on a range of Lift Trucks. Training can be carried out
either at our centre at Norwich or at customers’ premises depending on equipment requirements.
The courses are designed for the novice or the experienced operator. Conversion and Familiarisation
courses are also available.
Potential lift truck operators should be medically fit and be of a minimum age of 17 years.
The courses contain both theory and practicalassessments and certificates are issued on
satisfactory completion of the training.
Operating lift trucks safely is a skill acquired over many years, but as with all skills, it starts with
good basic training.
We offer training courses for both operators and instructors. Please select from the following:
Forklift Truck Operator Training
NTS is a Lift Truck Operator training company approved by ITSSAR (Independent Training
Scheme Standards and Register) and only provides training to the Health and Safety Code of Practice.
In centre fees
In company fees: courses for all types of truck can be carried out on site between 0900hrs and 1630hrs Mondays to Fridays or at other times, subject to agreement. A maximum of three trainees per course and on arrival the instructor must carry out a health and safety risk assessment prior to commencing training. Return travel expenses from our training centre on site will be charged.
Forklift Truck Instructor Training
NTS is approved to provide FLT Instructor training by ITSSAR (Independent Training Scheme Standards and Register) and only provides training to the Health and Safety Code of Practice.
Course duration: ten days for the initial course and five days for the re-registration course.
During both courses the tutor will assess the trainee in both the theory and practical operation of Counterbalance Forklift Trucks and Instructional Techniques. Successful completion of these assessments will enable the trainee to become an Approved Instructor and to issue Certificates of Training on Counterbalance Forklift Trucks and any others that they have been certified for. Registration lasts for five years after which a re-registration course is available.
Before the course commences candidates must produce evidence (certificate) of their successful completion of a full-length training course for Counterbalance Trucks plus a certificate issued and dated within the last 12 months from their employer or other responsible body to show that they have been operating that equipment competently for at least six months. If this cannot be met we recommend our two-and-a-half day Basic Refresher course which includes the required operator test and this course must be completed successfully six months prior to commencing the instructors' course.
Within the first two days the trainee will need to pass a test of operating skill to instructor level and the remainder of the 10-day course will primarily deal with instruction of forklift truck operation. Please be advised that all trainees will require four passport-type photographs and their National Insurance number.
Course fees: 10-day Instructor Training Course, £1,299.00 + VAT; 5-day Instructor Re-registration Course, £625.00 + VAT (inclusive of lunch, refreshments, course manuals and registration).
